Change is the Only Thing Constant in life said a famous Greek Philosopher.
When the pace of this change is so rapid that we can’t prepare for it, it disrupts. I speak here both for Employers (i.e. Organizations big or small) / Employees. Both need to make sure they don’t have blinkers on.
We are living in an age of disruption, no matter how prepared we may be, we can be surprised.
Employers need to avoid the arrogance of success and reimagine their business models every year – factors that can disrupt could be judicial, political, technological, economical, environmental etc.
Some examples of disruptions happening right now –
- Artificial Intelligence
- Electric Cars
- Travel agents vs Online Booking Sites
- App-based Cabs Vs Taxi’s
- Drones
- 3D Printing
What other examples do you see if you look around you?
For all of us some things to do, to be prepared –
- Analyze your strengths & then reanalyze based on changed scenarios frequently
- Companies need to learn not only from their larger competitors but also from the new kid on the block – Live life on terms and risks that you are prepared to face, don’t get carried away by numbers or revenue figures of others
What else can we do to be prepared to face Change?
